Enhancement of durable resistance to blast in high quality rice cultivar

The recombinant inbred lines(RILs) were developed from a cross between rice blast susceptible japonica variety, Ilpumbyeo, and Moroberekan that has shown durable resistance to rice blast and screened for resistance to blast. Proportion of polymorphic bands between the parents was averaged 45.2% for SSLP. The map covered 1,395cM of the 12 chromosome and its average length between markers was 13.8cM. The segregation ratio of resistant and susceptible lines in the RILs to six races were 1:1, indicating that the qualitative resistance to each races was controlled by a single dominant gene. In the blast nursery test, about 55% of the RILs showed resistant reaction to leaf blast and average disease scale of the RILs was 2.9-3.0 and average diseased leaf area was 7.2-8.4% in Suwon and Sangju, respectively. In the field screening, ratio of infected RILs to panicle blast was 23% and 47% in Suwon and Jaecheon, respectively. Some of RILs were selected for developing durable resistant cultivars based on the results of inoculation, nursery and field screening.
