Study of genetic diversity in a rusa deer (Cervus timorensis russa) population in Mauritus using derived bovine microsatellites

Bovine microsatellite systems were used to amplify rusa deer (Cervus timorensis russa) DNA. Ninc markers, (ABS12, BM2934, CSSM041, IDVGA55, ILSTS006, INRA040, TGLA57, TGLA122, TGLA126) showing different polymorphisms in bovine and other deer species (red, sika) were tested. Seven markers gave PCR amplification products of which 3 were polymorphic. There it-as no amplificafion for CSSM041 and ILSTS006. These are the first results obtained in a rusa deer population completing previous studies oil various deer species.
