Clinical enzymologogy in the Camel (Camelus dromedarius). Part III. Effect of dehydration on serum AST, ALT, GGT, AP, LDH and urine GGT activites
Serum AST, ALT, AP, LDH, GGT and urine GGT activities were measured in 8 camels during a total experimental periods of 24 days including control period (3 days), dehydration (14 days) and rehydration (7 days). At the end of the dehydration period, the serum enzyme AST, GGT, LDH activities were increased by 70%, 56% and 75%, respectively. Serum ALT and AP activities and the urinary GGT activity did not show any significant variation. After rehy dration, enzyme activities returned to normal values. Such results suggested that pronounced dehydration did not induce any evident organ damage.
