CIMMYT en Mexico: la cuna de la innovacion agricola mundial
México ha sido el país anfitrión del CIMMYT desde su fundación en 1966 y ha contribuido de manera sustancial en las actividades del centro con agricultores, colaboradores y donadores en todo el mundo. El CIMMYT es un organismo internacional dedicado a la investigación científica, al desarrollo y a la capacitación para incrementar de manera sustentable la productividad de los sistemas de cultivo de maíz y trigo para garantizar la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional, y mejorar las condiciones de vida de los habitantes del mundo en desarrollo. El CIMMYT es miembro del Consorcio del CGIAR, coordina sus Programas de MAÍZ y TRIGO y participa en otros cuatro programas del CGIAR.
