Los nanoanticuerpos: pequeños anticuerpos para la medicina del siglo XXI
Los nanoanticuerpos son pequeñas proteínas encontradas en la familia de los camélidos (e.g. camellos, llamas y alpacas). Estas proteínas de un tamaño diez veces menor al de un anticuerpo convencional tienen la capacidad de unirse a antígenos. Su reducido tamaño, solubilidad, alta especificidad, estabilidad, resistencia a altas temperaturas, y bajo costo de producción, los hacen una alternativa altamente atractiva en comparación con los anticuerpos convencionales para combatir diversas enfermedades. En la actualidad, se está investigando su potencial tanto en diagnóstico como en tratamiento de enfermedades, incluyendo su capacidad para neutralizar al virus del SARS-CoV-2, causante de la enfermedad COVID-19.
