In 1985 the Bean Project for Central America and the Caribbean, including tropical Mexico and Panama, continued to generate technology for national programs. On-farm trials and planting of nurseries were increased in each country; this resulted in the identification of promising materials superior to those which are presently in use. Good progress was made in incorporating resistance to apion godmani and in increasing the levels of resistance to BGMV, web blight, and common bacterial blight. Training was also increased through regional courses, in-country courses, and workshops. (CIAT)

(CIAT) En 1985 el Proyecto de Frijol para America Central y el Caribe, incluyendo Mexico tropical y Panama, continuo generando tecnologia para los programas nacionales. Se incrementaron los ensayos a nivel de finca y la siembra de viveros en cada pais; esto dio como resultado la identificacion de materiales promisorios, superiores a aquellos que se usan actualmente. Se realizo buen progreso en la incorporacion de resistencia a Apion godmani y en el aumento de los niveles de resistencia al BGMV, mustia hilachosa y anublo bacteriano comun. Tambien se incremento la capacitacion por medio de cursos regionales, cursos en los paises y reuniones de trabajo.
