Polymorphisme de la transferrine chez les bovins trypanosensibles et trypanotolerants de l'Afrique de l'Ouest. Repartition et frequence de leurs alleles
The distribution of electrophoretic variants of purine nucleoside phosphorylase (N.P. E.C.2.4.2.1) controlled by the alleles NP.H and NP.L was determined on erythrocyte lysates from zebu, Baoule and N'Dama/Baoule cross cattle. Electrophoresis was performed on cellulose acetate and NP revealed. Zebus had a NP.H gene frequency that was slightly higher, but not significant (X², test) than Baoules (0.4595 vs 0.3898). Both populations were in equilibrium. There appeared to be a gradient of increased NP.H frequency in cattle from northern Europe to the tropics.
