50 x 2 = 30 000 = the SPORE equation
lt is now 100 months since the first edition of SPORE was published. Fifty editions in two languages have rolled from the printing presses and the subscription list has reached 30,000. This is the SPORE equation! But the coincidence of numbers has nothing to do with mere chance. SPORE has now become one of the foremost agricultural reviews to be found in the ACP states, not only because of the size of its circulation but because of its quality. For issue after issue, we have been enlarging our distribution list in order to get SPORE to those who need it most. These are often the most isolated readers who find SPORE an invaluable source of information. SPORE, which has proved to be well-named, is now being published in a third language, Portuguese, thereby expanding the information network to all the ACP countries. By amazing coincidence our 30,000 subscriber, Mr Jackson Karluki, wrote to us asking for information about cultivating mushrooms! Mr Karluki works with a Kenyan NGO called SACDP and we were able to send him Manual on mushroom cultivation by Peter Oei, edited by CTA and TOOL. SACDP has now been added to our list of subscribers to SPORE - another addition to the growing family of SPORE readers.
