Improving goat production in the Tropics
This book is written both for livestock specialists and for development workers who have not been formally trained in animal production. It explains the theory of goat-keeping, and how it can be used to implement simple and cheap improvements in the nutrition, health and breeding management of small or large flocks. Practical, step-by step guidelines are written in plain English and are fully illustrated with line drawings and photographs. The book is based on the belief that technical solutions must take account of the social economic and organizational context into which they are introduced. It is not enough for development workers to understand the technology of livestock production: they also need to understand the context in which the technology must function.
