Alley-Farming Network established

The Alley Farming Network for Tropical Africa (AFNETA) which began operations in February 1989 brings together three international institutes: ITA (the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture), which coordinates the work, ILCA (the International Livestock Centre for Africa), and ICRAF (the International Council for Research in Agroforestry), and aims to spread alley-farming beyond the Nigerian humid zone and throughout Tropical Africa. AFNETA seeks to assist national research institutions to obtain funds for collaborative research. Institutions or small groups within them can also submit research proposals to AFNETA, which wilI.consider small amounts of grant aid.
