Oil lamp incubators
A simple, three-level box can serve as an incubator for farmers who are raising chickens. The eggs are placed on a tray in the middle, wet sand to maintain humidity levels is kept on the bottom, and a container of water is placed on the top as thermal mass to maintain even temperature levels. A carefully controlled oil lamp provides the heat source. This design can accommodate up to 60 eggs and can be easily made from a few planks, some sheet metal and some chicken wire.
