Updated pocketbook for plant pathologists

Every profession has its handbook of information on diverse matters connected with professional practice. Since 1968, the needs of plant pathologists have been served by a pocketbook produced by the Commonwealth Mycological Institute (CMI) in London. This pocketbook filled a gap in the literature of plant pathology, but the original edition eventually became outdated In 1983 the Commonwealth Agricultural Bureau published a completely revised Second edition of this handy reference book. The miscellany of information it contains was compiled by CMI staff and other specialists, and the book is still intended to serve the day-to-day needs of plant pathologists around the world. Numerous bibliographies and lists of references help the reader to track down the more detailed information that is beyond the scope of this Pocketbook. The new edition reflects new demands placed on the profession since the book first appeared: new sections cover the effects of air pollution on crops; disease forecasting; crop loss assessment; post-harvest losses: plant pathogens and biological control of weeds; fungi as a cause of human and animal disease and seed health testing. This is a book no practising plant pathologist can afford to be without. Plant Pathologist's Pocketbook Commonwealth Mycological Institute Commonwealth Agricultural Bureau, UK (Second Edition, 1983) ISBN 0 85198 517 3 £ 13.25 (hardback), £ 6.60 (paperback).
