Healthier animal, happier farmer: Quan's story

The ‘Livestock-led interventions towards equitable livelihoods and improved environment in the Northwest Highlands of Vietnam’ or Li-chăn project implemented bundled livestock-based interventions covering livelihoods, environment, equity, and market access to benefit highland farming communities in Vietnam. In the Animal Health Flagship, the project organized four training workshops for farmers and animal health workers on biosecurity, farm management, use of antibiotics and vaccines, disease reporting, outbreak investigation and risk communications. More than 150 farmers and 20 animal health workers participated in workshops on prevalent animal diseases in the locality such as dermatomyositis, foot-and-mouth disease and African swine fever. After two and half years of implementation (2019–2021), the project has resulted in agricultural system transformation in northwest Vietnam.
