La descripcion de las diversas fases que comprende la construccion de una tabla completa, sigue el metodo desarrollado por Greville, en la construccion de las tablas de USA 1970. Dicha metodologia comprende 4 aspectos principales: ajuste preliminar de los datos, formulas necesarias para el calculo de las probabilidades de muerte, suavizamiento de dichas tasas, y derivacion de las restantes funciones de la tabla. De estos 4 aspectos cabe destacar el metodo de suavizamiento de las tasas de mortalidad, que se presenta en dos versiones: la de Whittaker- Henderson y la variante de Greville.
