Este estudio trata sobre la identificación y caracterización de tipos de bosques naturales en el Corredor Biológico Volcánica Central Talamanca, Costa Rica. El muestreo se centró en la vegetación secundaria por ser la predominante en el corredor. Para la selección de sitios en campo se realizó un muestreo estratificado que tuvo en cuenta variables físico-ambientales, como pendiente, suelos y zonas de vida. Los bosques fueron caracterizados y comparados en cuanto a variables como composición, estructura, riqueza y diversidad florística. La distribución de los tipos de bosques se ligó principalmente a cambios altitudinales. Fue posible así elaborar un mapa preliminar de tipos de bosque en función de la variable altitud. This study identified and characterized natural forest types in the Biological Corridor Volcanica Central Talamanca, Costa Rica. Sampling was focussed on secondary vegetation because it is predominant in the corridor. For selecting field sites, a stratified sampling was conducted taking into account biophysical variables such as slope, soil, and life zones. Forests types were characterized and compared using variables such as composition, structure, richness, and floristic diversity. The distribution of forest types was related principally to altitudinal changes.
