О сезонном росте сельди в Рижском заливе

The seasonal dynamics of weight and length in the 1-to-4-year-old spring-spawning herring is considered in relation to temperature and feeding conditions. According to the growth patterns four periods have been distinguished: of the decreased growth rate in winter and spring; active summer growth, stabilization, and of active autumn growth. The peculiarities of these periods have been demonstrated for herrings of different age groups. For some periods, the relationships have not been defined between the weight and length increments, as well as between the temperature regime and food availability. A view has been given about the role of endogenic factors in the regulation of the herring seasonal growth process.
