The state of the bottom fauna in the period from 1900 to 1962, in the changeable conditions of the Baltic Sea

The impact of hydrological and chemical factors upon the living conditions of the bottom fauna in the Baltic Sea is analyzed. The data on the composition, abundance and the distribution of the biomass of demersal invertebrates in various areas of the Baltic Sea are given. It has been concluded that a direct dependence exists between the oxygen concentration in the water and the biomass of bottom fauna.
