Recent international initiatives with implications for fishery statistics
Information is provided on various developments since the 1994 Regional Workshop of Fishery Information and Statistics in Asia, at the global level which may have implications for fishery statistics, particularly as a basis for fishery management. The following are covered: UN Agreement on straddling fish stocks and highly migratory fish stocks; FAO compliance agreement; Code of conduct for responsible fisheries; and, Kyoto declaration and plan of action.
