Pesquisaje de los efectos antiinflamatorios - analgésicos en dos extractos de esponjas.
At present, there is a worldwide tendency to discover new drugs that provide an answer to treat different illnesses, many of them still without solution and others of difficult treatment. In the last two decades, diverse groups of scientists have concentrated on obtaining natural marine compounds, since they represent a source of new chemical structures. Marine pharmacology has focused its attention on some areas of pharmaceutical development with emphasis on cancer and on inflammatory illnesses. In this work we carry out the study of two extracts from sponges of the Cuban shelf as possible sources of anti-inflammatory and/or analgesic compounds. To achieve this objective the extracts were evaluated in the models of inhibition of phospholipase A2 of bee poison, rat paw oedema induced by carrageenin, serotonin and histamine, mouse ear oedema induced by croton oil and arachidonic acid, and writhing induced by acetic acid. The results demonstrated that one of the studied extracts presented antiinflammatory effect in different ways, and both extracts manifested analgesic action.
