RNAseq analysis of Campylobacter jejuni sRNA CjNC140 mutants
Campylobacter jejuni is an important zoonotic pathogen that possesses the ability to cause gastroenteritis in humans and abortion in ruminants. To study the molecular mechanisms that affect the virulence of various strains, we utilized knockout mutants of small RNA CjNC140 and CjNC110, and harvested RNA during exponential and stationary growth to examine the transcriptomes of these mutants compared to wild-type of the sheep abortion clone (IA3902). The results from this study were used to inform phenotypic studies assessing the role of these genes in the pathogenesis of disease of C. jejuni.
