Efectividad de insecticidas para el control del barrenador de raíces de palma Sagalassa valida Walker.

One of the main strategies used the application of controlling Sagalassa valida Walker (root borer) is chemical pesticides. The results presented here are part of a study carried out in an oil palm plantation from the municipality of Tumaco (Colombia). Four chemical treatments for controlling Sagalassa valida Walker were evaluated for a seven-month period. The results indicate that the treatments based on Tiametoxam + Lamdacyhalotrina and Profenofos + Lamdacyhalotrina reduce damage levels compared to other treatments evaluated. It must be highlighted that the Tiametoxam + Lamdacyhalotrina, treatment keeps acting on the field for more than seven months, if it is complemented with use of physical barriers.
