Good usage of nutritional claims.

Legislation relating to claims concerning the qualitative and quantitative properties of food products are discussed. These claims are used in publicity and labelling and public health and industrial and commercial arguments for foods with specific health properties. The role of authorized and rigorously controlled "health claims" in promoting nutrition education in consumers, as references for professionals in nutrition education and in providing incentives for research and development in the foodindustry are examined.
