Die ärztliche Ausbildung in der Europäischen Gemeinschaft [electronic resource].

The Advisory Committee on Medical Training of the Commission of the European Communities was set up by the Council of the European Communities by its Decision of 16th June 1975. On the same date the Council agreed Directives concerning the mutual recognition of medical qualifications in the European Community and the freedom of movement of persons holding these qualifications. This publication contains the texts of the papers together with summaries of the discussions presented at the symposium held to mark the 10th anniversary of these Directives and of the founding of the Committee. Subjects covered include: the role of the European Community as regards mutual recognition of qualification and freedom of movement; marrying medical education to medical needs in the next century; the place and purpose of clinical skills in the years after 2000; postgraduate training and whether it should become more diversified or more cohesive; training for teamwork; the sciences basic to medicine after the year 2000 and how they should be taught; medical ethics in the next century; and clinical freedom and the future financing of health care.
