Redescription of Hartmaniella tulearensis n. comb. (Amoureux, 1978) with comments on Hartmaniella sp. and affinities of the family (Polychaeta: Hartmaniellidae)

Pseudoninoe tulearensis Amoureux, 1978 is redescribed and transferred to Hartmaniella, and Hartmaniella sp., recorded by Gathof (1984) from the Gulf of Mexico, is also redescribed. Both taxa have asymmetric maxillary apparatus of labidognath type, with four plates on the left side and three on the right side. Because of the lack of maxillae III on the right side, the maxillary apparatus shows similarities to fossil kielanoprionids and the extant families Onuphidae and Eunicidae. A complete description is made of the different kinds of setae.
