Effect of some chemical fumigant substance on the population of Araecerus fasciculatus and coffee seed viability

Effects of six kinds of substance, i.e. kerosene, pure gasoline, terpentine, ethanol 70 percent, acetone, and formaldehyde 37 percent as fumigant for coffee bean weevil, Araecerus fasciculatus, as well as their effects on coffee seed viability had been examined. Terpentine was proved to be a good fumigant for supressing the Araecerus fasciculatus population. The substance also had no negative effect on coffee seed viability. Kerosene was slightly less effective than terpentine, but had a better effect on the viability. The four others could not be used as seed fumigant because of their had effect on seed viability.
