Dewatering and drying characteristics of coffee pulp. 2. Drying characteristics

Studies on drying of coffee pulp were undertaken in a ventilated laboratory oven. Coffee pulp samples at four levels of initial moisture content obtained by mechanical removal of 0, 5, 10, and 20 of the fluid were dried at temperatures of between 75°C and 150°C. An empirical equation developed for the drying process of coffee pulp seem to be dependent on other unknown factors inherent to coffee pulp besides those covered by this study. These factors can perhaps be identified by studies into the physical and biological properties of coffee pulp. Otherwise, the results are important to the design of suitable coffee pulp driers.
