Pengaruh penyambungan batang bawah ekselsa dan Robusta pada stadium serdadu terhadap pertumbuhan batang atas kopi Arabika Catimor

An experiment on the influence of grafting of Excelsa and Robusta rootstocks in soldier stage on scion growth of Arabica Catimor had been conducted by the Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute at Sumber Asin Experimental Station (550 m a.s.l.). Seedlings at soldier stage were used as rootstock and scion, followed by cleft grafting method. A sheet of parafilm was used as grafting tape. Soldier stage seedlings were grafted, and grown in the nursery bed on a medium of mixture of topsoil, sand, and cattle manure at 2 . 1 : 1 volume ratio; one month later the grafted seedlings were transplanted into polybag (20 x 30 cm lay flat size). The experiment consisted of two experiments namely (A) experiment using rootstocks derived from 14 individual numbers of Excelsa and 5 Catimor as scions (BP 448 A, BP 449 A, BP 452 A, BP 453 A and BP 454 A), and (B) using rootstocks derived from 7 clones of Robusta (BP 42, BP 39, BP 4, SA 109, RBgn 121, RBgn 124-01 and BP 959) and single variety of Arabica scion (BP 453 A). Randomized Block Design was used with 3 replications and 20 plants for each treatment. For the first experiment the scion treatments were nested in the rootstock treatments. The result showed that the success of grafting was 71 - 97. For the two experiments, there was no significant effect of rootstock type on the growth parameter of Arabica scion (number of primary branches, number of leaves, stem fresh weight, root fresh weight, stem dry weight and root dry weight), except for the diameter ratio between Excelsa rootstock and Catimor Scion.
