Efeito dos níveis de carga pendente e estágio de desenvolvimento dos frutos sobre a evolucao e intensidade de ataque de Hemileia vastatrix Berk & Br., agente da ferrugem do cafeeiro :

Field experiment was established at Machado Experimental Station, EPAMIG, from 1989 to 1991, in order to assess the role of harvest and fruit development stage on coffee rust disease evolution. The experimental desing was a RCB in a 3 x 2 factorial, and split-splot for time, with 3 replications. It was evaluated the disease on plants which underwent a complete harvest of fruit, 50 percent of fruit harvested, and no harvesting at two times: December (Fruits at initial stage) and April (Fruit at green stage). It was observed that the rust disease was higher on trees that had their fruits 50 percent harvest and no harvesting (59 and 62 percent infection, respectively) than on those that were 100 percent harvested. Yield was already reduced when fruit were harvested in April (green stage), inducing a higher rust disease level thant when harvested in December (inicial stage).
