No significant differences in total yield were found between S1 and S2 progenies in a 17-year trial of 92 S1 and 12 S2 progenies. The accumulated yields of the first four or the first six years were an adequate basis for selecting high-yielding progenies, as correlations with the total 17-year yield were positive. Selection of the best individual plants needed to be based on the first 10-12 years, to include the year of maximum production
