Quantitative genetics of flower number in coffee

Inheritance of flowers per node, inflorescence per node and flowers per inflorescence was studied in the cross Coffea congensis X robusta based on generation means, Robusta showed higher values for all the three characters. Inflorescence per node and flowers per inflorescence were found to be mainly governed by influence of both additive and nonadditive gene effects. Reciprocal recurrent selection was suggested for upgrading this important character in coffee
