Studies on physiological races of Pratylenchus coffeae
Existence of two physiological races i.e. coffee race (Pc-coffee) and cardamom race (Pc-cardamom) in Pratylenchus coffeae, has been reported. Cross inoculation studies of these two races on seven differential hosts revealed that they differ in their reproductive and pathogenic behaviour, although they could not be differentiated morphologically. Though Coffea arabica was found to be positive cardamom race, multiplication of nematodes showed negative trend with hardly any damage to coffee roots. Elettaria cardamomum was found to be immune to coffee race of P. coffeae
