Clonal versus seedling performance in Robusta coffee: an evaluation of morphological characters related to yield

A calculation of heritability estimates from analyses of variance of six traits (stem girth, number and mean diameters of primaries, bush radius, leaf area, mean yield) was included in this study of 17 clonal and 12 seedling progenies of Coffea canephora. Estimates were highest for mean yield. Path coefficient analysis indicated that stem girth, mean diameter of primaries and leaf area had the greatest effect on yield but the characters jointly only accounted for 36 percent of the yield variation
