Role of storage fungi in the nutrition of coffee bean weevil Araecerus fasciculatus (Degeer)
Aspergillus ruber is the most predominant storage fungi associated with larval, pulpal and adult stages of the coffee bean weevil, Araecerus fasciculatus (Degeer). Among the bacteria, cocci are more in larval and pulpal stages and Gram positive sporulating bacilli in adult stages. The breeding of the weevil in the commodities is increased by the presence of A. ruber due to the nutritional supplementation. When a free choice is given, the weevils preferred food containing.
