Some methods of vegetative propagation of the coffee tree

A study was conducted to verify the traditional methods of vegetative propagation, including grafting, inoculation and propagation by cuttings. Grafting trials were successful at 40 per cent and inoculation at 41.2 per cent - however, this is true of only inoculation in the terminal part of the rootstock. Two kinds of stimulators, compared with a variant where no stimulator was applied, were used in the trials with cuttings. The highest number of rooted cuttings was obtained in the control (24 per cent); in the variant where the As-1 stimulator was used the obtained number of rooted cuttings was very low: 2 per cent. As for the growth and development of the plants growing from the cuttings, most of them formed three branches after three years, and these branches had different lengths and different numbers of leaves. Flower buds have been set on all of them and ripe beans developed on one of them
