Evaluation of extractants to assess the availability of soil sulphur to Coffea arabica L
Evaluation of some of the commonly used extractants to predict the availability of soil S to Coffea arabica L., vis-a-vis heat soluble S indicated that heat soluble S was present in higher amounts followed by NH4 OAc or NH4OAc-HOAc extractable S. S extracted by Bray-1 reagent, 0.15 per cent CaCl2 or cold water was comparatively less. Correlation co-efficients worked out revealed that heat soluble S and S extracted by NH4OAc-HOAc, cold water and NH4OAc had significant correlation with plant S. Bray-1 extracted S had poor correlation. This study suggested that NH4OAc-HOAc could be employed to assess the availability of soil S to Coffea arabica L. in routine soil testing programme
