Investigations on BHC residues in drinking water from coffee plantations and coffee beans
Residue analysis of BHC on the bark of coffee stem, coffee bean, soil and water from ponds and tanks in coffee estates was carried out. No stem absorption was noticed. Coffee seeds were free from residues. Accumulation in the soil was more at soil surface and negligible beyond 6 inch depth. BHC residues noticed in drinking water were high in comparison to the levels fixed for water quality criteria. Hydrolysis, degradation etc., are also discussed
