Estimation of sample size for stem girth, leaf, fruit and bean measurements in coffee
Sampling is an essential aspect in coffee breeding work. Sample sizes required to determine the mean, whit a degree of precision not below the 95 level of probability, have been estimated, for stem girth, leaf, fruit and bean measurements in Coffea arabica and Coffea canephora taking different varieties into account so as to cover sufficient variability existing within each species. The sample size required increased with the increase in the coefficient of variation. Fruit and bean measurements were subject to less variation thah leaf and stem girth measurements
