Estudio de la producción de 12 clones de cacao (Theobroma cacao) bajo las condiciones de Turrialba, Costa Rica
The purpose of this experiment was to evaluate yielding and natural incidence of moniliasis and black pod on 12 cocoa clones at Turrialba, Costa Rica. A complete random design was employed with 12 treatments, 4 repetitions, 6 plants per plot and a distance of 3 x 4 m. The clones showing the best yielding were CC-137 (811.5 kg/ha), EET-67 (741,4/ha), EET-183 (684,2 Kg/ha) and EET-59 (683,2 Kg/ha). None of the clones showed law incidence to both diseases, though the EET-183 genotype seems to be an exception because it presented this characteristic and also has an acceptable yielding. It is considered appropriate to continue assessing these genotypes under different environmental conditions in order to determine if the keep the same agronomical behavior shown in Turrialba.
