Efeito da calagem no pH e nos teores de cálcio, magnesio e alumínio em solo ácido cultivado com cacau
The effect of spread liming on the correction of the acidity and the exchangeable contents of aluminun, calcium and magnesium, at different depths, was evaluated for a Tropudult soil (var. Vargito distrophic). Five producing plantations of hybrid cacao trees 9 to 12 years old were utilized with 6 years of liming. The applied lime corrected the soil acidity to only a 10 cm depth. The calcium and magnesium contents are high at the initial 10 cm of depth and this suggests their movement to 15 cm while the aluminun is neutralized to 10 cm. At deeper layers there was no alteration in the soil chemical composition of these elements. These results suggest that the depth to be considered for the determination of liming, for this type of soil, should not be greater than 10 cm, avoiding an overestimation of the amount of lime to be applied in the soil surface.
