Controle das formigas cortadeiras em plantios de cacau
This review presents informations on the geographical distribution and the economic importance of the leaf-cutting ants belonging to the genus Atta and Acromyrmex, occurring in the cacao producing countries of South and Central America. In addition, economic losses caused by these ants are presented. Several methods of control have been used or evaluated; however, chemical control is limited in Brazil to two chlorinated baits. New insecticides for chemical control as well as the management of predatory or repellent ants for biological control need to be evaluated.
