Ocorrencia de morte descendente do cacaueiro no território federal de Rondonia

A disease of cacao trees caused by the fungus Botryodiplodia theobromae Pat. was commonly encountered in a colonal seed garden in the Ouro Preto Experimental Station. Federal Territory of Rondonia. Disease symptoms were characterised by the appearance of dark lesions on young stems or branches, followed by wilt and leaf-fall. Later the branches died due to ring-barking, the bark becoming soft and falling away from the wood. The fungus was consistently isolated from the affected parts and its pathogenicity was confirmed in cacao seedlings
