Ghana's contribution to year-to-year changes in world production of cocoa beans
Although Ghana provides only about one-third of the world supply of cocoa beans, increased production of cocoa beans in Ghana has usually meant much lower world prices for this commodity. It is found that changes in Ghana's production of cocoa beans from year to year are closely associated with those of other West African countries but not with changes in Brazil's production. A large part of the variability in year-to-year changes in world production of cocoa beans is explained by changes in Ghana's production plus associated changes in the production of other countries
