Volume of reticulo-rumen constituted 88.31, omasum 2.09, and abomasum 9.59 percent of the total stomach volume of 12 adult Barbari goats. Caecum represented 5.92 percent. These stomachs formed 53.12 and intestines 44.02 percent of the total wet tissue. Total clean weight of G.I. tract was 7.38 percent of live weight, whereas compound stomachs formed 3.92 percent and reticulo-rumen 2.92 percent. Stomach compartments retained 72.25 and 70.25 and intestine 27.75 and 29.75 percent of the wet and dry matter of the G.I. tract. Total wet and dry matter contents were 17.65 and 2.61 percent of body weight. Total intestinal length was 34.454 times that of body length. Reticulo-rumen, caecum and proximal colon were main sites of microbial digestion and practically no fermentation occurred in the abomasum. On a dry and organic matter basis, the relative TVFA concentration (percent of reticulo-rumen concentration) was 30.40 and 30.64; 6.15 and 6.51; 18.63 and 19.57; 42.64 and 47.55; 45.50 and 50.62 in the omasum, abomasum, small intestine, caecum and proximal colon respectively. The pH in the reticulo-rumen was 5.86. A steep decline in pH was noted in the abomasum. From abomasum onwards the pH rose alkaline in the small intestine (7.758), while pH in caecum and proximal colon was 7.03 and 6.94. The relative percentage of N-fractions, dry matter and ash in the digesta expressed as percent of reticulo-rumen concentration were; total-N 120.25, 85.22, 134.54, 111.53, 117.91; NH3-N 86.02, 78.78, 135.14, 101.13, 94.48; dry matter 164.11, 91.19, 77.61, 126.20, 140.50; ash 176.60, 141.44, 114.12, 254.31 and 279.93 in omasum, abomasum, small intestine, caecum and proximal colon respectively. A significant decrease in the protozoal counts was observed in the caecum and colon than in the reticulo-rumen; however, the bacterial counts were statistically similar to those of the reticulo-rumen
