La alimentación de los caprinos durante el período de crianza es un factor determinante en la mortalidad y en los costos de producción (hasta un 75 por ciento), a la vez que influye sobre el manejo total del hato. Se discuten los aspectos nutricionales, los sistemas de crianza y de alimentación según el tipo de uso que se le dará al cabrito (carne o semental) y las metas a lograr (edad al sacrificio, peso de mercado y edad al empadre)
