Palm oil fractionation process

The process described called 'superfluid fractionation' will produce a liquid palm oil fraction with an iodine value above 75. The liquid fraction has a good stability to the cold test. This is due to: (1) The selectivity regarding triglycerides of the disaturated-monounsaturated type (S24) and monosaturated-diunsaturated type (SU2) is better than in both the dry fractionation and the detergent fractionation. (2) The distribution of palm oil triglycerides when using the superfluid process is more favourable for a good separation of same triglycerides. Due to interesterification and the use of a selective solvent (Hexane), it is possible to facilitate the separation of these triglycerides and to obtain a minimum percentage of disaturated-monounsaturated triglycerides (S2U) in the liquid fraction
