Control of fungal diseases of rice in Taiwan
The high temperature and humidity in Taiwan are especially favorable to fungal diseases which cause an annual yield loss of 23-42 per cent if appropriate control measures are not applied. The mayor fungal diseases of rice in Taiwan are the rice blast, sheath blight, stem rot, brown spot and bakanae disease or foot rot. Rice blast and shealth blight are the most destructive ones. The paper discusses the occurrence, damage, and control methods of these diseases, with particular reference to fungicide recommendations already in use in Taiwan
