New combinations of Orchidaceae from Costa Rica
The authors suggest that Encyclia ionocentra, regarded by some authorities as a synonym or variety of E. prismatocarpa, is a valid species. Their conclusion is based on morphological differences between the 2 species. Additionally, the authors suggest that the following 3 species belong to the genus Epidendrum: Epidendrum talamancanum (basionym Epidanthus talamancana), Epidendrum epidendroides (basionym Neowilliamsia epidendroides) and Epidendrum crassus (basionym Epidanthus crassus).
