Woody flora in high-altitude zones in the Cordillera de Talamanca, Costa Rica
A checklist of 483 indigenous woody species is presented which includes 91 families and 227 genera. The families richest in woody species are the Rubiaceae, Melastomataceae, Lauraceae, Asteraceae and Ericaceae: these make up 30 percent of species recorded.The best represented genera are Chusquea, Miconia, Ocotea, Palicourea and Oreopanax. Vernacular names (where known) and altitudinal ranges are given for each species.
