Rotación de cultivos maíz-frijol-trigo en la mixteca oaxaqueña

In the Mixteca Alta of Oaxaca, México, an area characterized by severely depleted soils and low rainfall (450-550 mm), the Center for the Development of Peasant Farmers (CEDICAM) seeks to increase soil fertility and reduce erosion. After six years of experiments with maize and bean rotations, yields have increased 100 percent and 65 percent respectively, over first-year monoculture harvests. White clover and maize associations have also been successful, with the clover producing an abundant biomass (15-25 t/ha).
