Usaha penyimpanan benih kacang sapu dengan perlakuan berbagai bahan nabati

Seed storage of bushitao (Vigna sinensis) by several kinds of pesticidal plant orecource treatments. The seeds of leguminous crops particularly bushitao are easily damage by seed borer. Callosobruchus maculatus. Serious infestation of this insect may reduced germinating capacity of seeds up to 90 percent in a short time. It could damage the cotyledon, epicotyle or hypocotyle part of the stem. So it could be a handicap on legume production and development programs. The effort of keeping for long time storage of bushitao seeds was tried by means of using several kinds of pesticidal plants such Azadirachta indica leaf, Pachyrrhizus erosus and Leucaena leucocephala seed, and Lantana camara leaf powders compared with corn oil and Sevin 85 S. Seeds were mixed homogeneously be those plant material powder. Result of this experiment showed that corn oil and Sevin 85 S are the best. But, corn oil is recommedable due to not harmful to human being. Pachyrizus erosus seeds has potential for seed treatment.
